According to updated data, wheat exports for the first month of the 2024/25 season amounted to about 3.6 million tons (including deliveries to the EAEU countries), which is higher than the five-year average of 3.1 million tons, despite significant competition on the world market from Eastern European countries and the still existing Ukraine, the Rusagrotrans analytical center told Agroinvestor. Previously, analysts increased the estimate for exports in July from 2.5 million tons to 3.3 million tons due to more active shipments in the second half of the month. In July last year, 4.17 million tons of wheat were delivered to foreign markets. Egypt remained the leader in purchases, as in the previous season: exports there last month amounted to 0.5 million tons, which corresponds to the level of July 2023. Morocco is in second place for the first time with 0.34 million tons. For comparison, for the entire last season, the country imported almost 0.5 million tons of Russian wheat. In third place is Bangladesh with 0.25 million tons, in fourth place is Saudi Arabia, which imported 0.19 million tons of Russian wheat, and the top 5 buyers are Kenya, where 0.18 million tons were shipped. Despite the ban on wheat imports by Turkey, which has been in effect since June 21, more than 100 thousand tons of wheat were delivered to warehouses in ports there for further re-export. Also in July, the second volume of barley for this month was exported from Russia – 1 million tons, which is second only to last year’s supply of 1.25 million tons, compared analysts at Rusagrotrans. Barley exports are stimulated by a high harvest in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories and demand from Saudi Arabia, Libya and Jordan. According to the results of last season, barley supplies exceeded 8 million tons, which allowed Russia to become the world’s largest exporter of this agricultural crop for the first time. Corn exports in July amounted to almost 0.3 million tons, which corresponds to the average level for this month. The new corn harvest will only begin to arrive by the end of August, Rusagrotrans analysts noted. According to the results of the 2023/24 agricultural year, corn exports from Russia were record-breaking and amounted to about 7 million tons.
